Two is better than one.
The labelside of the short one is darker, bluegreen perhaps.Last edited by Piet; 03-04-2011 at 03:14 PM.

well, on the subject of overpriced rocks: if i had me a large diamond i'd be inclined to sell it, and buy some eschers, some jnats, and some coticules.. a big diamond is as pretty as a piece of glass, and about as usefull. (diamonds in a hone/laping plate on the other hand.. )
hell, even a broken escher, jnat, or coticule is worth more to me.. every one of them can be used as a slurry stone.
if you think they are overpriced when considering their function, find a comparable synthetic and be happy.

First all I can say is they all look grayish green to me, having said that all these threads got to me and I bought a stone 3x8 from the mine that the Escher's supposedly came from and all I can say after using it is HOLY COW!!! What a difference,I don't know if I got an especially good one or there all this good but man, the edges I'm getting are unbelievable. I am doing nothing different and I already had a Norton 8000,and a coti ,and a c12 and I never got the edges like this,if Escher's are measurably better thAN THIS I would really like to try one,I cant imaging a next level stone.
Worth every penny of $177 I paid, but $800?? I cant see myself buying one of those.

I don't want to disappoint you, but if you got that much better edges with the escher than with the CH12k or the coti, that means that you can't use them yet. Somehow the escher suits your honing style better, or it was easier for you to learn it. A Norton 8k edge compared to an escher, thats worlds of difference. An escher compared to a coti or CH12k edge? They are all finishers, and there isn't that much of a difference between them. Sure, some like other finishers more, but its not like comparing a Zeepk and a DD. More like a W&B wedge, and a C-Mon extra hollow, they are both good, but in a different way.
