I don't want to disappoint you, but if you got that much better edges with the escher than with the CH12k or the coti, that means that you can't use them yet.
Not Really This is exactly what someone should experienced.
Somehow the escher suits your honing style better, or it was easier for you to learn it.
Again Respectfully i have to say is opposite is True. Learn to use Escher is a lot harder.
An escher compared to a coti or CH12k edge? They are all finishers, and there isn't that much of a difference between them.
Again There is a lot differences among escher , ch12k and coticule.

    hope this helps.

What confuses me most is this is a new user and find out how to use escher so easily?

I did not learn them, I just had a few razors honed by experienced honers, when I was trying to choose a finisher I should buy for myself. I did not feel THAT much of a difference between good shaving razors. Maybe its only me, but its a bit more of hype than real advantage in my opinion.

I am not sure you can make any meaningful conclusions out of the test .

Please do learn and then advice rest. There is nothing wrong with learning or making mistakes.I have made many mistakes myself. about the topic you refer(LINK) if you check the link yourself you will see i was the first person to test the razors.
By the way in the process i lost my bet and learned from it.
    You know what i learn?
Not everyone gets out of the hone what hone could provide. Some will get more others less etc. Just with simple shaving you cannot figure it out what stones has been used.
    hope this helps.

Sham's correct. Honing is a very personal thing. Some guys get killer edges off a Norton 8k, some off the Nani 12k. Natural hones are a whole different animal.
The biggest part of it is, who's doing the honing. A practiced hand normally gives better edges.

An escher compared to a coti or CH12k edge? They are all finishers, and there isn't that much of a difference between them. Sure, some like other finishers more, but its not like comparing a Zeepk and a DD. More like a W&B wedge, and a C-Mon extra hollow, they are both good, but in a different way.
First of all I didnt say I was finished with the thurry-I said I got better edges, secondly I always use a pasted strop ,and third-and most importantly-I didnt say that I didnt get good edges with the other stones ,I said THIS WAS BETTER, IMHO.And I use the same style with all hones, and I can get a good edge with any of them ,BUT I now know why the best Honemisters here like the Escher so much.
