I'm sorry Jimmy. I take full responsibility, so I think you should restore your count back to ONE!

I'll be doing a full write up this. It is not fail-safe. 1K,3K,5K,12K did fine.

But you guys can breathe a little easier. I got in a hurry and cracked the 8K. It's fitting that the 8K would vindicate veterans of a Straight Razor forum.

We'll see if it glues up acceptably and then I do a write up.

I've used Loctite Professional Epoxy to glue stones with good results. Absolutely waterproof.
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

Here ya go, another shot of how thin the plastic needs to be sawn/sanded down to, one of the 'bits and pieces', and one of the finished product using 1/4" aluminum and 5-min epoxy.

The 8k was cracked but glued back up nicely. Took a while to lap down flat, and the strange thing is that you can see it plainly, feel it plainly...but if you close your eyes and run a razor across it you cannot feel/hear it. Due to that I'm hoping I dodge a bullet on this one.

    All Naniwa Stones

They claim to be the only U.S. distributor for the full-thickness SS. But the price is nearly double...which is getting close to the Chosera prices. As you can see, I'm still in my "stubborn cheap-skate" phase. The aluminum cost roughly $6 a piece...but was pre-cut for me.

Really really want to try the aotoshi green brick due to the review saying it responds well to differing slurries. (I do knives by hand fairly often. Slower than my machines but there's a *Zen* to it that can't be matched.)
