This is what I believe is a Brown Thuringian. Although the base colour on mine differs, it has those similar orange/pink markings. An authority on hones has used mine and believes it to be a Thuringian.

This one is dark brown and makes yellow slurry.

It doesn't look like my Thuringians with brown patches, nor like my Vosgiennes (Vosgienne is in my opinion a correcter name for 'Brown Thuringians'). They are a very uniform purplish brown (see also here and here).

Maybe so, but you're going to have a hard time getting us Americans to say Vosgiennes!

I knew I had a problem when I began to spell Hohenzollern correctly without a reference or spell check.
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

    And then?

Mine makes a slurry of the same consistency as my Thuringian and Escher, however it has a brown tint to it, where as the others are pretty much white with a hint of grey.

Here is more pics, wet and one with slurry. It turn out to be very good finisher, my mistake was to holding the stone in one hand and hone with another one . L.O.L. It so small at least for me that I could not put keen edge . But once I put the hone in the rubber holder everything is fine great for travel/vacation.
