I am not a fan of the Shapton. As far as the DMT's, I find their place to be more in the repair arena. They are the most abrasive of stones used on razors. Actually, I have set the bevel on a razor using the Chosera 1K following a DMT 1200.

I had the DMT, but since getting the chosera it has become nothing but a lapping plate. I find you can do most repair work on the chosera as well in good time. It is definitely money well spent for any hone.
