Thanked: 1936I have called them PHIG's as well as the range of finish varies soooo much & many are quite disappointed with them & may go thru 3-5 stones until they find one that will leave a good finish on a razor after 8K. I would agree that they are mostly pre-polishers, some good, some not so good. I also agree that the term PHIG could be considered deragatory, so I'll try to stick with calling them a China Stone, as I can never remember how to spell Guangxi. Maybe it would help if I could pronounce it. I just can't use the term C12K simply because of what was mentioned above...trying to classify a natural as a specific grit. Not gonna happen.
