What is your favorite whetstone/hone???
I would like answers from people that have different selections of stones. If you only own 1 or 2 stones then your answer would restrictive in knowledge and more based on opinion, so.
What is your favorite all around whetstone, natural or synthetic?
What is your favorite bevel setter?
What is your favorite finisher?

Thanked: 15Right now I'd have to say my coti is my favorite go to hone, and I can use it for anything from bevel setting to finishing. My favorite bevel setter is my Norton 1000 and my favorite finisher is my coti. Looking hard at the Jnat Kiita, vintage thuringian and new escher for finishers though and just trying them out.

Hmm, let's see now;
For bevel setting, my Chosera 1K. A wonderfully effective yet gentle tool for the job.
My best finisher is hard to choose, there are so many good ones.
If I had to pick, I would choose my Suehiro Gokumyo 20K, a synthetic, or my Nakayama Maruka Asagi.Bjoernar
Um, all of them, any of them that have been in front of me over all these years....

Thanked: 1587I have not used enough stones to give any kind of empirically valid answer to your question. Besides that, I am still learning how to get the best out of some of my stones, and that will probably continue for a long time yet.
However, on a pure "my heart breaks into a big sloppy smile whenever I use it" kind of criteria, my Nakayama maruka asagi fits that bill. It makes my fingers itch, and I am starting to develop the razor version of Munchausen's Syndrome By Proxy....

Definitely like my Chosera 1K and 2K for bevel setting. For sharpening and polishing, I really like my Ozuku Kiita San.

Thanked: 993Bevel Setting: Chosera 1k (for rough work, the Chosera 1k with Coticule slurry).
For Feel/Fav Stone: Norton 8k, it's like stroking a piece of velvet.
Finisher: Escher or Charnley Forest, I go back and forth and just can't pick one.

Thanked: 1195Bevel setter: Norton 1k
Sharpener/Polisher: Norton 4k/8k
Finisher: Naniwa 12k (though some of my razors prefer the coticule treatment)
