Thanked: 3Hone ID needed
Hey guys this is a stone I found in my grandfather's old stuff the golden thing is a sticker it comes off and reveals a gray stone and the other side is a white side. It almost looks like marble stone. Thanks for the help!

Thanked: 3Thanks HNSB,
Do I have to lap a Coticule? Can I use it just like that is it a finishing stone?
Sorry for all the questions i searched the library but found very little info on coticules.

Thanked: 1371Yes, you should lap it to make sure it's flat. After that it will require very little lapping.
It is primarily a finishing stone, but with slurry it can do some of the work of the middle-grit stones.

Thanked: 202One of the best available. About lapping. Check it first if it is flat and smooth no reason to lap it again.

I absolutely adore these old barbershop size (4x2 or 5x2.5) vintage coticules. My all-time favorites stones, hands down. Perfect in every way. Congratulations!

Thanked: 12This is a very nice finishing coticule. I have a Old Rock and it is very smooth. If you are going to use it to finish on I would never put a slurry stone on it. I have never used one on mine and it feels like a piece of glass. If you are going to leave the sticker on it I would clear coat it so that it stays like new.
