Should I have this Coticule bout cut?

Hi,

I just ordered this la veinette coticule bout vrom Jarrod @thesuperiorshave, after debating what kind of stone to get in my limited price range. I posted in another thread here on srphttp://straightrazorpalace.com/honin...ze-please.html, and received allot of help.
My question is, being that its a long bout..228mm X 34mm approx...and it tapers toward the end..should I cut the tapered end off, and make it more of a rectangular shape? I guess I could use the end as a slurry stone...keep in mind I'm a complete newbie at this and was just wondering if not having to worry about that tapered part might make life easier for me...it is also a fairly narrow stone @ 34mm...Thanks Again

No need to make this more complicated than it needs to be, if you don't want to use the whole stone then just stop your honing stroke early.

I would try it out first as a finisher and see how it feels. slurry stones are cheap and cutting up a coticule is easier than sticking it back together

its quite long, for hand honing i'd be tempted to trim it down, but see how it feels , your chioce .

You should do whatever makes you happy. It's your stone. If it was my stone, I'd leave it the way it is.

There is no way on the world I would cut that stone. It looks too sweet as it is.

Can you show the sides of the stones? It looks like the BBW side is coming through, if that's the case I would return it.

That's not BBW. It's been called blushing. I have a slurry stone just like it.

Well, I bought it based on Jarrods reputation here..He said the stone should last at least 40 years with consistent use.. I don't get it
