Thread: Chipped my razor by being an idiot

Hi all, this is my first post here, sorry to be asking for help rather than contributing.
I am a beginner and therefore have more questions than answers.

Anyways, I have two very small chips out of my straight edge razor. I think they came about from continuing to use a pretty chopped up strop which was qutie uneven.

The chips aren't big, one can barely see from the poor pictures I took with my phone, but they have to be corrected none the less.

Any tips on how to do it, and what I need? i currently have zero hones. I have a strop which is only good for ruining razors and a balsa board with some green and red paste on it.

Is not so bad, the best way is to send to someone near to you for hone on stones, if you like do from yourself you have to buy a honestone.
And I think is time to buy a new strop, really .

1.) The pics suck
2.) I have never tried to take out a chip without a hone
3.) They look tiny so you might try the balsa first
4.) You are probably either going to need to learn to hone or send it out
5.) The guys who hone are here

6.) You need a new strop or a Pumice stone/Sandpaper and some work on the old one

your best bet will be to send them out for honing. You dont want to learn on the fly with a beloved razor. Better to practice on Ebay specials. What you will need in the future is a 700-1000 grit stone to re set the bevel a 4k 8k and should you want it a 12k+

Nice, the odds were quite high there are a ton of SR guys there and they can give you some more advice too about where to get stuff in Norway..

I live in Tønsberg, but I travel to Oslo pretty frequently. I'll check my schedule and see what I can work out
