The DMT 325 can most definitely be used for lapping, but lapping will eventually take a toll on it. The good thing is, Once you've lapped all those stones, it'll be well broken in. The Norton's are no problem. Some require more lapping than others. I've seen some come out of the box almost completely flat, and other's that actually need to be sent back. Even if they're flat, you need to lapp enough off to get to the smooth stuff. The first, 1/8 of an inch is usually to rough...YMMV.
Now, the Chinese 12k is one hard stone. That will take some lapping. Again, they vary. Some will make you wish you had a DMT XX or some industrial equipment. I think my first C12k took me around 45 mins or so with the 325.
Once that DMT325 is broken in, it's a great slurry generator...No doubt.....Last edited by zib; 06-12-2012 at 12:30 AM.
