    Default Gassixgun Lapping video question

Hey guys. I have a question about the Gassixgun lapping video on the norton 4/8. In that video he has his two DMT lapping stoned both sitting or being held by some sort of stone holder. I'm new to honing and was wondering what those are called and where I could get some? Thanks so much for any help.

It's a stone holder, simple as that

I believed SRD had them, but didn't find any now, and Classicedge is sold out: Sharpening Stone Holder you can also find them on eBay in various versions.

Sorry to critique, but I believe you've spelled his moniker incorrectly. As for the stone holder, maybe try sending him a PM.

I got one like the one pictured here at Rockler, for about $15.00. I like it. It gives some height to the stone, as well, which I've found helps with keeping shallow angles.

    Cheers,

Thanks to all. I kinda feel dumb for asking. I received my pair of them today. Thanks again and sorry for the spelling error gssixgun. Also does anyone know a good touch up routine to do with a finishing stone? (12,000k)

It depends on what 12k you are talkinh about. On a synthetic, most of them will do the job with around ten strokes. If you are talking about a natural stone like the chinese 12k at least about 30 or 40 stokes. In either case start out with less than that say 5 for synthetic and 15 or 20 for natural and see how it shaves. You can always add more if needed. Have fun!
