Scratched glass plate

It didnt slurry I no smell.

Could it be a jewelers gold testing stone? Is there a difference? Can you use a jewelers stone to hone with?

On some you can, I've got an old one 1700 something and it looks like slate, used it sometimes to touch up my gravers.
To be good as "jewelers gold testing stone/touch stone/ probe stone it doesn't have to be a very fine stone but they usually are.

Slate good? it fels like glass.

Slate can be really good, but whatever it is go try it and tell us how it is!
