Identify this stone please
I would love to know what this stone is. It feels like a higher grit above 8k but I am not experienced enough to know.

Hard to say from just one photo but if the stone is very hard it looks like a Black Arkansas to me.

Thanked: 247Typically, those of us who guess like to get a side, top, and end view of the stone. Preferably taken in macro, in daylight sun. Slurried, wet, and dry.

It appears to be see through, perhaps some kind of synthetic glass hone?

I cant see through it. It is black and I see no light through the middle. Is this good or bad stone?

Thanked: 480It could be a black Arkansas stone, or it could be a slate stone. Either one is an acceptable stone to use, but it is only BY using it that you will be able to determine where in a honing progression it belongs (if anywhere)
