I've read/heard Alx say that most all of the stones today are Tomae.. but obviously I can't be sure about this one. Asagi, yes, the color matches as far as I know.

Nothing on the surface hurts the edge, I've tested this one plenty of times. As for the hardness, like I say, maybe 7 to 8. I wet it lightly only a minute before I took the picture and you can see how it absorbed the water.. so not too hard.

If your stone (an inexpensive one) has a crack that becomes an issue, just take some silicon and affix it to a base, or cut it up for tomonagura. Either way, there will be something useful to do with it.

A lot of the items of that seller sound almost too good to be true.. But then he has some more expensive items and it makes me doubt the quality of the less expensive ones.

I looked a while ago and actually would have probably bought a few things, but the shipping cost has always been an issue.... dont like when sellers overestimate it.

Japanese has another system for grading goods . They have some ausome razors on 10 bucs and a cheap old nagura .This seller , is new ,but it is very nice guy . I dont think he is aware of the prises and things
I first ask him for a economy shiping and he sais ,that there isnt so in Bulgaria
I pay 26 dolars for the shiping and say him ,that that there is a economical grade shiping here.I told him thati buy goods and last stone , from Metalmaster ,on economical shiping =
He was send the stone expedited , but he appolojaise for the misunderstanding and refund a 16 dolars from 26 for that that he tell me that there isnt such . I didnt expect that , just wake up and see a refund and appologie letter
    It is cool guy thought

Most of those small stones have condition issues that make them inexpensive. If the seller says they are good for razors, hopefully they are (they probably are).

If he came out with a 2kg stone that was perfectly square and cleanly cut and said it was a top class razor hone for $50, then I'd really worry about it.

Most of those are koppa or mostly used up, but they very well may be decent razor hones.

Before buying one, I'd look closely at shape and make sure none had cracks across the top, were too thin, too small or had odd voids under the stone surface.

Also, if you look at the weights, a lot of them are 300 grams or so, which means there really isn't much stone there.

A thin one that can be glued to a base but is otherwise regular might be a good way for someone to try jnats, but the trouble with jnats is that when you buy a small stone to try a type, there's no guarantee a big stone will be the same as your small stone.

When I bought the last few items from Japan, the sellers told me that the economy tracked shipping is no longer possible, because of OUR regulations. This means that goods cannot be sent cheap with tracking anymore (that used to be around $10 US for up to 500g).

Not really sure what the situation is right now - one of the sellers sent the item without tracking and I received it (lucky!), the other sent it tracked, but I assume it cost the seller more.

I'm glad to hear you had a positive experience with the man. Perhaps I will purchase something, maybe do a collective order with the guys from Belgrade and split the shipping costs. We do that all the time... it's an excuse for an impromtu meet, which is always fun [emoji1]

Well i send hones alround and i have one time tracked shipment lost so the guy from France ask to search for it . I was sending few non tracked shipings and never had problem .
i had a thin piece of Kiita my first Jnat and it is 4 - 5 mm thick and i glue it to Padle
So i finish alround 12 razors withowt vizible decreasing of the thickness . I guess thet Alex Gilmore is very right in his videos that the DMT isnt so bad to Jnats
Some NOS Jnats in boxes are 1 sm or a 12 mm Thick as brand new
I think that there is plenty of life in a 1 sm layer of Jnat and if used properly i can last maaaany years
Full size stones sre for the grandsons ha ha ah
