    I just ran into this thread...it was a roller-coaster ride!
    A lot of good technical discussion, a couple of left/right turns, but impressive description of problem, follow-up, redirect and advice.

    Agreed. Oh, and to those who aren't artists, which I guess is most, the Sharpie that was shown is SO not the kind of Sharpie I'm familiar with it isn't even funny. (And that from a cartoonist!). If it'd been referred to as a "magic marker" I'd have understood what was being spoken of.

    I guess it's a bit like calling a vacuum cleaner a Hoover. In Australia they seem to be called texters. In the UK we called them magic markers.

    Permanent marker seems to be most popular, shortened to perm marker most of the time..
