No problem, doin' fine. Decided to send it in to a master honer, both to see if there's a fundamental problem and also to see what someone who Jared from thesuperiorshave rates as the best honer he knows of does to a blade. (Hmmm, tough sentence to parse but I'll leave it to you.)

I just ran into this thread...it was a roller-coaster ride!
A lot of good technical discussion, a couple of left/right turns, but impressive description of problem, follow-up, redirect and advice.
What an awesome community to be a part of.

Agreed. Oh, and to those who aren't artists, which I guess is most, the Sharpie that was shown is SO not the kind of Sharpie I'm familiar with it isn't even funny. (And that from a cartoonist!). If it'd been referred to as a "magic marker" I'd have understood what was being spoken of.
