Definitely a valid route that many take but there are many of us that actually enjoy the stones, honing, and yes frustration. A good analogy is that some prefer to take their Harley to a shop to be worked on. Then there are others who wouldn't dream of letting someone else have all the fun. I fall into the second camp. Even if someone offered to fix it for free I would have to politely decline. It's just too much fun getting dirty and greasy and figuring out the puzzle. Same with honing for me. I love the challenge and am a bit sad that it's getting less and less of a challenge every time. Luckily there are still a few that make me think.
What a curse be a dull razor; what a prideful comfort a sharp one

Thank you Jamie,
When I was a Brand New/Newbie fresh off of a very painful divorce; a member took time out of his very busy life to help me. First by slightly lowering his asking price on a couple of beginners razors/when my Uncles Genco Grant's edge began to pull/and then when I wanted to learn how to hone; he helped me with advice with hones.
That member is HNSB. : Thanks to him I got started down this long road on the right foot. Since then others/especially GSSIXGUN have offered advice and help to keep me on the right path.
It's due to them that I try to help as I can. I just hope that those that I've helped will someday pay it back/pass it forwardLast edited by cudarunner; 04-28-2015 at 10:24 PM. Reason: Went to Dayton Schools/never learned to spell

I need to add my name to the list of folks that Roy has helped out. He got me started with my first straight, and I'm very thankful.
