Congratulations Gerhard, good to hear another success story. I would not worry about how long it takes to get there, it is all about comfort and unless you are professionally honing who cares. Concentrate rather on making sure the complete edge hits the hone consistently and the indicators that you are ready to move to the next stone (assuming you are sure the bevel is set). In my opinion this is harder to do than trying to hone quickly. This will serve you well especially when you come to a problem blade profile.
A good lather is half the shave.
