I watched several videos on honing and the one with Lynn Abrams with the naniwa stones conveniced me to go with the naniwa stones. The 1-3/8 and the 12K to start with. I later ordered the Suehiro 20K and the 5K naniwa . with these I have honed all the razors I've come across. I did get lazy and order the naniwa 400 to restore and remove small chips out of the blades I get off eBay. I believe that if these stones are good enough for a pro such as Lynn then some one like me should do fair.

The 1/3/8/12…20 progression is perfect, you won’t need the 5K.

Surprisingly with modern synthetics you can, in the high grits, make large grit jumps, just fine. The 20k seemed excessive to me. But once I bought one, I too was impressed.

I re-honed a 40+ rotation, once I got the 20 dialed in. Just with the 20K. It is an amazing touch up stone.
Not saying you need one, but doubt you will be putting it up for sale anytime soon…

+1, but we are supposed to reel them in slowly...

Naw, that hook’s deep, reel, baby reel….
