I had few rough days at work so needed some therapeutic honing. Tested a Tanifuji Maxfli 100 on the kiita, softer stone but very fine and leaves a nice polish. Yellow Japanese rocks man. Mystery of nature.
Shave was OK so I went back to botan toishi then tenjyou/koma on the narrow stone and finished on tomo slurry on the kiita. Silent HHT after 10 laps on the strop. Shave was perfect.
Picture - top left to right, botan, tenjyou and koma.
bottom left to right, botan, unknown narrow finisher, kiita, tomo

    H. Diamond 8000 gets the full mikawa nagura progression on this wonderful ozuku. After koma, finished on water with hand soap. One of the most irritation free shaves imaginable. I’m fairly certain some rocks are compelling me to find another razor to pla..er, refresh.

I have been trying to optimize my edges from this stainless Froidur. It seems that this razor is fickle about which stone it does or doesn't like. I have had many fine shaves from this razor off of a La Vienette coticule and an Apache Strata. My results from this Shobudani were less impressive for some reason. Although this stone has produced the finest edges I have ever experienced with every other razor I own, it just doesn't "Jive" with this stainless number.

This has been often discussed here. Which is good. Because you are able to know that you aren't doing something wrong.
And my experience with stainless razors is similar.

My dump truck at work has a stainless dump body. That thing will eat the cheap drill bits they buy. The properties of stainless seem to require a different approach/ stone than all of my traditional blades.
Another wrinkle in the quest for comfortable smooth shaves.

Much like hard American steel, stainless likes the uniformity and fast-cutting of synthetics.

FME coticule and Escher have been a waste of time with them. JMO.

Maybe not the best pair but they sure do look good together.

Thanks for confirming what I have come to believe.

    Back to what works best.

The infamous stainless Friodur with Coticule progression. This combination is now proven to give my best results with this razor. The La Veille Rouge de Regne (LVRR) is slightly convex and extremely fast for a coti. The edges it gives are keen and aggressive. My trusty little La Vieneitte is a proven performer. Kind of like a comfy old couch. It's smooth predictable edges are the result of a light, misty slurry that tames the aggressiveness of the LVRR and leaves that Friodur purring.

    Great shave last night!

Making a mental note of your conclusion, Tom, since I had thought of running some stainless across the Jnats. Maybe I will have justification for keeping the SG20k after all.
