Today I refreshed a chef's knife and worked on a couple of Solingen beauties Gasman Jerry sent me to play with on my primitive cut Arkansas. The thing is, they came with damn near perfect, smooth as silk SG 20k edges, so "improving" them is a tall order, but I gave 'em a go over two good sessions very lightly on my usual WD-40 with one layer of tape. We'll see on the next test shave. Jerry, those edges are better than any "pro" edges I've ever shaved with, seriously.
There are many roads to sharp.

Did a quick bevel reset on a C-Mon HF with a slurried Shapton 4k then a nagura progression on a Kiita to finish, we will see how it shaves tomorrow as I have honestly not spent much time with this finisher

Here in the Mid Atlantic, and parts south, we have South of the Border signs... all along I95 north AND south, for 100 miles before you hit the tourist trap/theme park/world of campiness in Dillon SC.

Just did a session which took hours on this Gilbert Brothers..
It has a recessed toe with a chip on the end of that toe.. It was a nightmare scenario
I did all the leg work on the Naniwa 800.. Then gave it a bevel set on the Debado 1k.. Then i went old school on my Shobu.. Full progression.
Had to strop the toe on the paddle strop ,my new trick.. The HHT results are disgustingly good..

Today was one of those days... just couldn't set a bezel set on a Sheffield... 275 strokes on either side to finally get it together. Then couldn't get the lines from the 1K off, even with yae-botan on a Shobu. Many many many strokes later, success. Nagura progression, and finished up on a Ozuku with tomo, and then water only. It SOUNDS sharp coming off my thumb pad. Cant wait for a shave with that one now!
But that one blade took me like 2.5 hours!Recovered Razor Addict
