Have six for the hones this Sunday, two TI's 1 Dovo and a nice Solingen plus two old Sheffields, looking at them there's 4 that will probably be OK the two old Sheffields look like they will give me a bit of trouble.

Here is a Boker Tree Brand being honed. Bevel set no tape.

Move to natural progression on Canadian oil stone, faster and gentler than Norton 4K

Most German steel performs well on coticules and the Boker is no exception.

Final finish on RezDog’s Canadian oil stone from Haida gwaii. Oil can be used on this hard stone.

Touched up a pair of Nichiri Manaslu M500 Yasuki Silver Steels on a Nakayama kiita. Interesting razors, they appear to be a copy of one of the Heljestrand models. The steel is of course superb and they take wonderful edges.

I pulled out all the stops and did everything I could, hopefully the barcode will be trapped when it arrives in Montreal and then have a human turn it around. No idea why this happened, could be the label came off on the belts somewhere or perhaps the sorting machine just misread the label and sent it back. The joys of mechanization.

    Sorry to hear that.

Maybe it's on its way to me.

Whew... package has been found and it was in fine condition. It still has to work its way to the end, but I should get it this time.

Sorry Tony, better luck next time! Now I have to wait 1 more day as it missed today's cutoff.

    Regards

Zulu is in da house! <grin>

I have a pix on my phone of the hone and razor I tested it with, but I have to transfer it to my confuser. I'm testing on my old faithful, a 5/8" Clauss.... off to do a shave test, more later.

Pix or it didn't happen. Hone is a keeper, love the "figure" in the hone. I did have some weird things happen that I'm not sure about, will have to think some more. The edge vanished when I used a light slurry, but perhaps it was too thick (skim milk like with a little water added), but I made the slurry using the newish 1.2K eze-lap paddle and the slurry stone shown in the picture... it *could* have released some broken diamond shards into the slurry....

Washed it clean, and honed on just water, edge came back promptly and the shave was great, but there is still room for improvement. Name: DSC_0121.jpg

A revisit to the Zulu Grey tonight has resulted in two very nice edges. I can barely wait for my next shave!

But, there is still this Jnat thing I must investigate.... [burp.... weird tasting coolaid, huh?]

Tried something a little different with this morning's hone.

Just use the vintage coticule as a combo - set the bevel with slurry on the red side (prob. La Lorraine), dilucot then water only on the coticule side and finished wet on the 'yet to be identified' green stone. Finished with strops over firehose linen, roo, then cordovan leathers.

Result wasn't too bad. The edge is a little crisper than off the coticule. Will try it on a 'real' razor next. Poor Kropp, she would have been a beauty in her day.
