I'm about to enter the fray of Jnat ownership. I have selected a hone and it should be on it's way shortly.... I cannot speak to it's capability yet, but based on the back and forth discussions I've had with Garret, I'm pretty darn sure I'm going to be happy with this "hunk o' rock".

Beautiful stone. Looks like you're jumping in with both feet in a pin drop position

What nagura you got coming with it?

More of a last kick at the cat sort of thing!

I included a basic 3 piece set: Botan, Mejiro and Tenjyou, just to play with.

I'm also getting a diamond nagura. I could have used one of my diamond plates, but the smaller diamond nagura, seems more suited to the task. I'll be posting more pictures when I get it in house and start playing with it.

As others have stated before me, choosing a dealer is far more important, than the stone itself. I did not have much to spend, and I'm in awe of some of those jnats out there, at their multi thousands of dollar prices, but I'm sure that what I ended up with will be very suitable for my purposes. The fact that it's nice to look at, was an unexpected bonus!

    Regards

Had to remove a sizeable chip out of this Joseph Rodgers, took a loooong time on the Chosera 1k.
2 layers of tape, left a wide but even bevel. After that pretty straightforward, onto the superstone 5k, test shave after the 10k, very nice so then onto 10 super light laps on the Gok 20k. Job done

Bought the 400 & 800 Nanis, just for that reason.

Maybe one day I'll get some lower grits but I dont do much restoration, took me a good 1.5 hrs so would be worth the investment.

Wow, lots a great hones and pics, good to see Oz represent.. Here is a Kampf NOS lather catcher 7 day set hitting the hones.
Bevel set with tape on Ol Sloppy.

Proceed to naturals, these blades require much handling and will bite hard and quick. They demand your attention.

Here is a fast cutting very fine j-nat of unknown origin. No stamp or mine title with this one. No worries.

The Final finish is on the unknown Europa stone w/ oil. Excellent steel, amazing edge capability.

Strop 100 laps on Kanayama 70000. Works well on delicate edges

Shave test not possible. Disinfect, test cut hair and 100x mag visual only.

    Mike
