It’s one I got from TC. A Max Sprecher he had made up, presumably for around the goat.
It’s a great travel razor and detail tool. Just takes twice as many passes, like a DE in width of shave track.

Ah, thought it was Maxs' style. Never used a shorty but have a shavette which uses half a DE.

Took this H.M. Christensen back to 6k King then to the factory lapped side (200 SIC IIRC) then to the side I lapped (400 SIC, then 600 W/D). I used Smith's Honing Solution diluting down to plain water then under running water at the end. Last step ended with heavy striction.

This great shaver finished on a great stone produced a great edge for a great shave.

    Default Full Washita progression

So, some of you may know me as the glutton for punishment aka full Ark progression guy. Recently while looking for other stones among the masses I came across a boxed 6X2X1 Smith's Washita...

...which I have never used. I began to play around with it and one thing led to another. As the imagination drifted and seeing as I apparently had too much free time on my hands I started to think about a full Washita progression.

This stone turns out to be a very good calico Washita, a naturally two sided stone, by which I mean it behaves differently on either side without any intentional lapping techniques.

It is naturally more dense on one side and therefore behaves finer than the other which is more porous and therefore behaves more coarsely. I still can't believe that I have never used this stone. What a fantastic rock it is.

Anyhoo, this all came about because I pulled out my Henry Sears, Queen 7/8 to shave with and notice that it had a ding right in the center of the bevel. Oh well, back to the old grind, so to speak.
Since I had unearthwd this Washita looking for something else and had already decided to play around with it, this gave me the perfect oppurtunity to road test it. Man! What a delight to hone on. This stone is fast cutting, but at the same time leaves a very smooth looking frosted type scratch pattern. I wish I still had a USB microscope so I could load pictures of it; an absolutely stunning frosty bevel. The ding did turn out to be fairly pronounced. So I worked that out on the narrow, side edge of the stone. That made the repair go quite quickly considering the tool that I was using. Even though one side is naturally more porous I did dress it to 80 loose SIC powder. This side worked quite well for the bevel set portion. The other side I just used the factory face and it was perfect for the second step. Normally from here if I were doing a full Ark progression I would go to the Norton No. 1 Washita before going to either a trans or black. But because this stone works so well from bevel set all the way up through mid-range I decided instead to go to the 8X2X1 Norton Lily white.

BRO!!! Thanks for talking me into buying that stone!

This Stone had a pretty decent lap on the one side already. On the other I lapped it with 800 W/D. I progressed up both sides of this stone reducing pressurre up to just weight of the blade.

Stropped on hemp fiber, flax linen and then leather it gave a quite nice shave.

It is still in experimental stages but with a little refining I think this is a go to method
