I got a GD so that I could make all of the initial mistakes on my honing learning curve on a cheap razor.
See my thread in this section:

Thanked: 1May I know how to visually identify if the bevel is set? I have a 30x loupe, but don't know what to look for. Thanks in advance..

Thanked: 104The only thing to add, from mainaman's post is, when you check to see if your razor cuts say forearm hair, make sure you cover the heel middle and toe of the razor, often, the heel or toe can be missed, especially when using pressure.

Thanked: 1081(Whisper) I like my gold dollar 300
When I was a kid my dad told me not to put my fingers into the light fitting, when i was a teen my mum told me not to drink too much alcohol. Of course I did, and suffered the consequences. Sometimes when told not to do something you've just got to find out for yourself, so obviously I had to get the infamous Gold Dollar.
I've had mine for a few months and have to say I like it. Delivered to the UK from China for £8 in just over a week I wasn't expecting much.
Opening my package it looks like the manufacturers have been reading some SRP threads as the heel seems to have been ground down as it sat on the hones well and with only some torque all along the edge was making contact. 20ish minutes on my Chosera 1k and I had a fully established bevel, next 5k and 10k naniwa and we were good to go for a shave test, I was pleasantly surprised, 15 laps on the gok 20K and I enjoyed it even more. I have a heavy beard and after 15 back to back shaves it slightly started to pull, 5 laps on the gok and all was well. I have tried a few natural finishers on it and have been just as impressed.
Maybe because of all the negative comments I actually really like it, like an ugly mongrel dog.
After all said and done i have found some great vintage razors for £5 including a gotta.
