Dude, really…. You need some stones.

    A 4/8 or 3/8 and a King 1k if it is a budget issue.

Hmm, Best of luck with the knife sharpener. While holding a precise angle is very important, the straight razor has built in angle holders, you Almond like to experiment, I get that, but in order to avoid Honing problems, you must try to stick to Proven methods of honing that have worked very well for Hundreds of years, after that it is time to make advancements in honing technology and New methods.

    Well… there’s your problem…
I don't have a problem. I did a shave test with that yesterday, a dry shave without soap and the first pass was better than the ones honed in conventional way.

really didn't want to advertise that without repeating it, so I kept quiet.

Now there you go, woke up T.C.

Guess you could use an Edge Pro, I thought, you were honing on Edge Pro stones.

But really, why? Shaveable and a good shave are two very different things.

Hey, if you think it’s working for you… Rock On.

lol .. I don't have a problem, it's you who has a problem. Shaved with it today, and it did a better job taking away hair from the chin and no cuts. In a single pass, it felt more smooth than a double pass on a progressively honed GD. Once I complete 50 shaves with it, maybe I can send it over to you, and you can take a look at this chinese marvel. And mind you, I just strop it 10 times, not more.

anyways with this experience I now understand why mastro livi hones only upto 3k. That's probably enough.

It's my guess that Mastro Livi is using the same hones that he has used most of his life. This would explain any success that he may have at that level. Neither you nor I, are skilled enough to follow his method. You will need more hones I'm afraid.

Hmm, What would M. Livi do, Almond knows. Last night I put an edge on my GD 100 and it was an effortless shave this am.

Sure glad you know it all Almond.
