Read it again, it is very specific and detailed much like it was in the Vids
Oh, i did read it. I did not advise against permasoaking the Norton 1 and 4k or the King 1k. Many people recommend it for these stones. I just wanted to advise against generalizing the assumption that it is even possible to try that. I can see no direct conflict between our statements.

These guys make a special water I like to use for honing; it's too expensive to drink except on special occasions. At 3 minutes in, they reveal that they are straight shavers, so you know they know how to get it right!

It's a satirical video making fun of hipsters, all in good fun. There's a whole series of them, all hysterical. I guess I just never even knew honing water was even a thing; our municipal water is very soft, leaving no mineral deposits.

Sorry. I didn't realize Rembrandt was that controversial. The etching in question is on public display at the Metropolitan Museum of New York if that's any justification. Anyway, I'll try to keep things clean.

I thought Sixgun was being cranky about my smart-alecky video. Did I miss a nudie pic or something? I miss all the good stuff.

I thought about it when I had an anecdotal experience of having calcium build up on my nortons. I stay strictly with distilled water. If the stone were designed to take on more minerals I thing they would say so. Just my thoughts, but some people have enough money they can buy, so it is a moot point to them, but maybe not to the blades edge. Additional minerals that were not there before could result is a faster cut or a dulling hone. Now some probably don't experience this, and for that I think they should be grateful. Me. I ain't taken a chance cause I ain't got dat kind o monay.

BADGER BUTT: Not directly related to this, so, since I haven't the slightest idea where to start this I am left with this choice.
I bought a new brush about two months ago. When I smelt the odor coming from the brush I went E-e-e-e-uw! It smelled like it was badger but. I have cleaned and cleaned and I cannot get the stench out of the bristles. All I get every time is the stink of badger butt, despite the fact I have never smelt a badgers butt. Can anyone, anyone at all make a recommendation other than tossing a $40 brush that probably only cost $10 or less to make. Had this to happen with a pair of cow hide gloves and they smelled like cows butt. Suggestions will be attempted to get the stench out of the bristles. P.S. too late to take it back like I should have the day after trying it, but stupid me, I thought I could wash the smell out. Fool.
