It is lacking in keenness is why i wanted to touch it up. And i know exacly what tape was used on this bevel so its my fault that i didnt use tape to match. Ill give it another go in a day of two. The stone is a coubudani (spelling) i just dont have the stones yet for making the different grades of slurry. I was just playing and testing and i failed
Next time ill get it right. And i got to play with the loup more.

It looks better under magnification than most of mine, including some that shave like nobody's business-give it a strop and a whirl and see what you did!

I can't see a double bevel from the pics but I can see a level of polish different on the edge vs the shoulder. Your shave test will tell you if the edge has changed in it's nature.
it's posible if you used slurry on a fast stone you did reach the edge, as you said you spent some time on it

My concern is that the two bevels look different. One may have a double bevel or a difference in polish or whatever, but the other seems fine. If either of those things had happened because tape was not used on a razor that previously had been taped, then the effect would be visible on both sides. That is, unless he used more pressure on the side shown in the first photo and fully altered the angle on that bevel.

I see a double bevel and I see some pretty deep scratches. I also see that your edge is not crisp it looks rounded to me.
With Jnats pressure is everthing, you have to use very little of it and the weight of the razor when finishing.

Well, i think next time i go at this i will need to tape and do alot of work to get a single bevel set. I dont have anything but the jnat at this time so its not like i can do much. Im happy i got a couple razors. Still got one that is shave ready but the rest are lacking. Ill get there but its going to be the 25th before i get to try again. Thanks all for the comments.

I'll give it another go and work on focus and light and see if i can make better pics next time. Like i said, i was trying this out this time. I'll do better next time.

Agreed. On a computer screen, rather than my phone, I can see that the top photo also shows two different regions in the bevel.

Shoubudani is the jnat. I ordered some of those little stones to get different grits for slurry but dont have them yet. I wanted ti learn to do this the natural way not the synthetic way. Hope i made a good choice. I understand the, sythetic way of honing is easyier to do, more consistant. Butvi guess i chose the harder way. Well will see if i can do it in a few weeks.
