Thanked: 3795Yes. That is the video in the link below where SDM84 wrote, "well you asked for it."
However, as far as I could tell, his neck was clean-shaven before he started the shave so all the shave did was to make is neck a little red.

Wow, looking at these videos posted in this thread,
I can't help but keep thinking there must be an alternate version of sites and forums where people gather and talk about straight razor shaving and honing
where they use junk razors and crappy technique and it's a widespread believe that's the way to do itLast edited by TristanLudlow; 09-08-2017 at 04:15 PM.

Oh my gosh. I just watched this. What on earth is wrong with this person? Far too much going wrong here to even comment on all at once!

Thanked: 458I was about to cut the guy some slack at the start of his method (it's a spine eating method, but it's actually not that bad other than that) until he started rolling the edge on the strop. Holy cow.
When I ship razors to people, I don't use pastes or powders, and I always tell people they can step the edge up with crox if they want. I always get emails back about how sharp the razor is (positive), and i'm always confused by that.
I think I'm starting to see why people think a middling sharp natty stone edge feels sharp. I hope they don't pick up a feather and meathand the edge into their face.

Thanked: 458I'd post some of my videos on here, but I can't remember what I said on them. They probably violate the TOS (I may have been dumping something in the videos when I made them), but I'm short on dogma when honing. You have to get some experience to get past the dogma, though. If you're new, the dogma is good for you.
I'll do a two-hander with heavy pressure here and there, but as all decent gentlemen do, I at least keep the spine on the stone buy bias the pressure toward the edge.
Anything less (anyone remember these right guard advertisements?) would be uncivilized
I thought it might be interesting to sneak a video in on here and see what criticism it gets, because I'm relatively unaffected by it. I do that on woodworking forums from time to time, and there's always a couple of posters who don't catch on and start with "you know what that guy's problem is?...."
.."no...tell me, he's probably a real hack"

Thanks for the chuckle! [emoji23] I loved it when he actually demonstrated how NOT to strop a razor (and nicked that beat up strop some more!)
As the time passes, so we learn.
