I totally agree with everyone else on the elbow height.
If you think that this might be the problem, try a chair or stool that puts you in a higher position above the work surface.

Thanked: 3225It is very handy to use a loupe to check the edge and bevel under a bright light source. Another thing you could try is blackening the bevel with a felt ink pen. Then do a few laps to see if you are reaching right to the very edge. Any remaining ink marks show you what you are missing.
I check visually with a loupe and also see if it will easily cut my arm hair all along the edge for indicators the bevel is set. Somehow you are misinterpreting your test for bevel set as being set when it really isn't.
Somewhere on the forum is a list of members by location which I can't find at the moment. Hopefully someone else will chime in with the answer.
