Sham was the first person that I ever saw do that. I like it! I incorporate it every now and then when I want a bit of a change up in my honing.

Used this method and shaved off the moustache last night. One pass and very smooth after.

    Full test shave tonight.

Pulled out my Coties and gave this a try, but without oil.
I have four different Coties that work as a progression.

I started with dulling a prefect edge on the side of a glass ashtray, which resulted in a truly nasty edge, with some light chipping. So a complete bevel set was needed.

Luckily I have a coti that's a cutter with slurry, the others refine more than the last. So after setting the bevel and removing the chips, I progressed thru them, and finished on the BBW with 50 edge leading, then 25 edge trailing with water, then 25 passes edge trailing, Dry.

Watching in my 30X loupe during the progression, I could easily watch the change. I then gave it 10 passes on a Cr/ Ox pasted strop, and 60 on leather, followed by a comfortable, irritation free shave. Its as sharp as off my Escher, just not as keen.

Quite enjoyable, I'd have to say.
And I never got to my fourth stone.!!

I have no idea what vein these are from, but I used them from Left- Right, or soft - Hard, as they are to slurry and finish.

Interesting thread. I don't think I've ever even used the BBW on my Coti before. Threads like this make me wish I could experiment with my hones some.

We'll find out in the morning. I'll go back to the BBW, then leather.
I was popping hairs to the touch, before the Cr/Ox. I just know what my face likes most.
I typically use a leaded strop, coming off the Escher/ Thurigan, and Cr/Ox off a Coti. Smooths the edge a bit more. I don't consider 10 passes to do much to an edge, anyhoo.

My BBW provided the keen, the coti side provided the smooth.

What is a leaded strop? Pasted?
