Awesome-I have also suffered from PF over the years teaching all day long, on my feet on concrete floors. I have tried several over-priced orthopedic shoes, and my latest Asics running shoes work about as well as anything.
I like JJ's idea too-old t-shirts demoted to shop rags!Last edited by ScoutHikerDad; 12-21-2019 at 10:15 PM.

So here's my shop outfit, with built-in ventilation. I'm about to change into it and go work on some blades in progress to celebrate my 1st day of Christmas break. That shirt is literally 30 years old, being from U2's Rattle and Hum documentary/tour in '89. I wear it for nostalgia as much as anything.
Let's start a contest for filthiest shop clothes! Post 'em up, boys (unless you're one of those Bob Vila types who wears nice flannel and khakis in his shop haha!).There are many roads to sharp.

Not a Bob Vila type, but I can't compete with that. My wife would have quietly disposed of those a while ago

Thanked: 556We celebrate when we can work on a blade or brush that’s seen maybe a hundred or more years of use. Seems to me the outfits we wear while lavishing love on those items should be in sync.
Also, the accumulated sweat and chemicals absorbed by the fabric help contribute to the privacy we seek while working in the shop.David

Well said, but you still look like a bum.

Started in on a different near wedge. I had initially "set" a bevel on this with 3/4" tape and switching to the 1/2" tape required a new bevel. There were some pits in the bevel as I started (not near the edge), but they are gone now, so yeah!
I'm onto the lighter laps now and was a little surprised that the blade seems to flex with pressure. I thought wedges would be a little more immune to that. This one seems to be reacting well so I'm hoping for a test shave tomorrow.
One issue I was having was changing the tape. I was marker testing each time I changed and noticed a shift of the angles on each side. Before the change, marker was on the front, but not the back. After the tape change, marker was on the back, but not the front. I'm a little surprised at how sensitive it is to the positioning/centering of the tape. I've mostly solved that by matching the side of the new tape to the under layer (I'm using two layers) so I get the positioning more consistent. Or should I just leave the tape alone once I get to the light stuff? How do you deal with this when you only have one layer, sharpie mark the tape position before removing?O'Toole's commentary on Murphy's Law: Murphy was an optimist.
