I think I destroyed the edge at the heel (blunted it) rather than shaved any width off but, I put the razor bevel down on my stone and discovered it has a smile, not a big one but definitely a smile.

I have never honed a smile before so armed with this new information I think by changing my technique I think i might git her done.

Quick question, bevel setting a smile??

You never realize what you have until it's gone -- Toilet paper is a good example

I used this one from GSSixGun and had tree topping all along the blade at 4K. At 8k is was mumble mumble mumble....I lapped my 8K stone and have not picked it back up.

FWIW, I am having a lot of trouble learning the rolling X. But this one I got figured out (all be it very slowly compared to him) in about an hour. Two at the most.

If you're wondering I'm probably being sarcastic.
