Hey Joël
No problem. I put the video online to be used. So no problem on posting it. I've posted it myself previously. So you can show it/post it wherever you like.
My french is actually kind of crappy so that won't help me much.
If you ever need help with that stone and you're in the Den Bosch/Oss/Einhoven Area let me know. I'd be happy to help.
Also, the Cade is EXCELLENT. I love the stuff. It's seriously become one of my favorite shavey things.
Which reminds me, I owe you shipping money for that stuff.

Great video, Alex! I just saw it yesterday. I think my mind's been made up--I'm picking up a blue & coticule from Howard this week!
Question, though: I know you used the coticule to set a bevel on an EBay special, but would the same technique work on a blue first (more pressure at first & easing up once a bevel has been set)? Or is the blue not that great for setting bevels?
(I plan to pick a DMT 1200 also for really big jobs, but my shaving budget will only permit so much @ a time! I just placed a big order w/ TGQ for soap & a new brush... )

I am a noob i have a small coticule combo stone, from my personel experience with this stone i was not able to establish a bevel on some ebay razors, i had to use wet dry sand paper in order to set the bevel. Also from all the posts i have read at this site seem to indicate the same thing that the blue will cut to slow.U will need the 1200 dmt or some other stone in order to set the bevel.Mabey some 1 with more experience here will chime in but for that seems to be the case.

The same thing pretty much works on a blue. Nowadays I use a blue first and then switch to the yellow. At the time I made that video I didn't have a blue.
And as for belgians being slow cutters....that's simply a matter of using more slurry. More slurry=more cutting speed for me.

I'd say 6x2 is just as good. You don't ever really need that much. If you check out the earlier given link you'll see that I'm using a coticule that's MUCH smaller than 6x2.
I can't really compare to the Norton's however since I've never used one. But I hear the Norton's are a lot faster. Saying that though I've never seen/heard anyone that overhoned on a coticule but it seems to be a common thing on the Nortons.
