It has come from a microscope shop. They use them (coticules) to sharpen microtomes?? (blades for cutting slices in samples of things to be peered at)
I think whoever got it originaly must have seen the real world as small when not peering into his scope
BTW The shop reckon it's unused!!

Absolute score, Marcus. Anyone would be more than pleased to have that rest in their permanent collection. Congratulations.

don't EVER cut that stone up or let anyone else do likewise!!!!!

I had to laugh. When I rang the shop, the lady didn't know if they still had the hone. So she went to get it, she was gone a while, she came back sounding puffed and said "bloody hell, it's heavy, your going to have to pay a courier for delivery, the post office won't take it"
    I said fine
Anyone got an opinion from the pictures? It is a natural combo by the looks of it, ref the wavey line between the two stone types.
I'm also wondering "how the hell am I going to lap it?" It as big as a sheet of sandpaper.

I won't cut it up. My wife wants me to sell it because of the difference in what it cost and potentially what it's worth........................... I don't want to sell it but I should! Looking in empty wallet.
Has anyone seen or heard of a piece this big, apart from the war memorial at Ardennes?
The only anoying thing is, it makes my other Belgian rocks look redundant, well, apart from my combo slurry bout.

Butt two sheets together and tape down the outside edges. The little crack between the sheets of sandpaper won't have any effect.

given that each stone seems to be unique in its behavior, it might well not make your others redundant, becuase they might be faster cutting or lead to a finer edge.

Also this is something that is likely to hold its value well, so you are likely to be able to sell it for a lot no matter when you sell it.
