Edge Pics?
So I took FPs advice and went back to my hones. After an hour each on the 5 and 12ks I finally had an edge that worked on my leg and face.
50 hits on the leather and then I looked at the edge under magnification. The edge looked ground not polished. The striations were fine and not large. Is the edge supposed to be polished like the face of the blade or is it supposed to look ground?
Does anyone have any pics of a shave sharp, shave ready, whatever you want to call it edge?
Being visual it would be appreciated. In lieu of pics a well described look would work.

Here is Tim Zowada's page. Click on bevels and then on edges.
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

Thanked: 1903Warning, potential thread hijack ahead...
Is there anyone here who could produce such pics for the Wiki? Since a major part of the discussions here in the forum is dedicated to hones and honing, I think an article on the effects of different hones on edges would be immensely useful.
Dear moderators, feel free to move my post or delete it. I will then create one in the appropriate sub forum.

Robin, Tim Zowada is a forum member. His own name is his screen name. If you were to PM him I bet he wouldn't have a problem with his photos being used in the SRP Wiki. I'm not volunteering to do the configuring but if some computer savvy person was to be willing .......

Thanked: 1903Oh, I know. Tim has kindly contributed to the honing section of the FAQ (cf. Frequently Asked Questions - Straight Razor Place Wiki). I just feel that having our "own" pictures would be somewhat more genuine. On the other hand, properly attributed... Hmmm...

Not the prettiest pics, as I did them ratehr quickly, but shows an edge progression.

Would pictures of this quality + a step-by-step instructions how to take them with entry level DSLRs be good content for a wiki page?

Thanked: 1903And the winner is...
Ladies, gentlemen, and those yet undecided - we have not one, not two, but three winners! Tim has kindly agreed to have us use his pics; Seraphim, yours will be commandeered, too; sparq, you have just won a free ticket to your very own article in the photography section: Category:Photography - Straight Razor Place Wiki
Now then. That was easy...
Joking aside, if no-one volunteers, Lee and I will do the image integration. sparq, if we can be of assistance, just let us know.
