I think I finally got it where I want it to be. I used Bart's idea about setting a smaller bevel to work on. For numerous reasons the bevel on that Dovo is huge so it doesn't help in setting a good edge on it. I did loads of passes on the dmt without tape then added 2 layers of tape did about 20 then moved to the BBW and Coticule followed by 14 passes on the cr0 paddle strop.

Passes the HHT test with ease now. Did you finally figure out that Friodur or yours? It sure sounds like a nice razor. It might be time for me to experiment with a larger blade..

Good to see that things worked out for you Dups! As for my Friodur, well that's still on hold for the time being, just had way to much going on in life to find the time to relax and experiment with honing. My last progress is in my original post..... I really should get around to posting some pictures some day. Anyway, I figure I'll have to cut a secondary bevel with a tape spine; I know it's not Barts's preferred method, but a few members think it's the cat's ass for 7/8 Henckels.

I'd love to try one of those big henckels. I really like my Dovo Stainless steel. I'm already looking around for something new though :P damn addictive hobby..:P
