Default Best shave of my life

Ahhhh, got it, the best shave of my life...nice feeling. One razor is really sharp now, and I'm not really sure how I got that one as sharp as I did but, Oh well...I guess thats the next set of challenges to figure out. Ok, to my "issue"...I felt like the blade had a really sharp edge, I mean I actually felt the edge in a new way. It felt like the razor had a wire edge all along the length of the blade shaving tonight. Since it feels like a wire edge; is it overhoned? Or is that the normal feeling I should have? It shaves like a dream but does that mean it could easily break??? (the edge I mean) Hard question to answer since I can't describe better what it felt like...I suppose my question comes down to when honing...do you ever feel like the shave suddenly feels like the edge has been honed "on"...the razor had a different feel to it along my face, you know? It sorta felt wider... Prep was really quick and haphazzard, didn't matter, blade shaved like going through butterered whiskers...

    Default wider

Sorry, when I said the blade felt "wider" I meant like it went from a 5/8 to a 5/8.5 It felt very thin on my face...sorry shaving euphoria makes it hard to control logical thinking

    Congratulations on the super shave!

Wire edge? Doubt it. None of the signs of a wire edge are present, like a scratchy shave, missed whiskers etc.

Davis, it sounds like you could feel the "fin" fully fanned out.I can't say that I've felt what you felt yet, but from everything I've read, the fin does exist and it's all the microserrations in the right size and properly aligned. Sadly, everything also seems like it can be easily messed up by everything but shaving and proper stropping. Don't bump it, drop it, nail test it, or speak poorly of it within earshot!

Agreed, this is an old post from me. I'm able to replicate a shaving edge on demand now with almost all types of razors...but I did have to flirt with my DE razors a little until the straight got jealous.

That reverse psychology works well with most "guy toys". Everytime one of my golf clubs starts showing it's ass, I leave it in the trunk for a round and play with a different driver, putter, whatever. It must scare them back in line, because the next round when I give the old one another chance, they perform VERY well. Jeff

There is a boat load of information in the archives. Its amazing how much you can learn, and yet the button is so small at the bottom of the screen I'm sure most newbies don't even realize it exists. The imported threads are from the original site I think, so its fun to go back and track your own posts from the day you started.

Sorry "boat load", no pun intended....

None taken Davis, I'm not on the boat anymore. Got my transfer to CIVLANT back in 2002! By the way, I was a bit caught off guard how fast you replied. Not many guys get to surf in the morning, I just happen to work at night.
