Thanked: 278Powder cleaners are supposed to be best. (I still need to buy some myself, so I can't vouch for it.)
Have you been using the DMT to lap other hones by any chance?

I sent one in for replacement once and when they sent me the new one they included a cleaning kit with a brass bristle brush and something like comet cleanser. I scrub mine down every so often.
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

Nothing like that. Inside of a month. I had to call a couple of times to refresh their memory but they were very good about standing behind their product and sent along a few free credit card sized plates as well as the cleaning kit. I would definitely give them a phone call on Monday if I were you.

Serious, what is Fairy? Anyway, I use a DMT 1200 also to set bevels, I love this hone! It sets quick and sharp, I use it before my BBW and coticule to good results. What kind of powder cleanser would anyone recommend if this was to start happening to my DMT (hasn't yet); is there any specific brand?

Or in other words, dish soap!

Thanked: 124
Dish soap and water seems to work for me. I'm not touching any "fairy liquid" though... I don't care how clean it makes my hones...
