Ok, gave the razor 4 stokes on the Swaty followed by regular 50/50 strop.

The shave went well, razor felt smooth no pulling, tugging, or anything.
Resulted in mostly BBS, still have a section on my neck that I have not figured out quite right.

Thank you all for the help.

Could you elaborate on why stropping the night before a shave isn't sufficient? When I receive a freshly honed razor from Lynn, Kenrup, Glen, et al., they all say don't strop, just shave. That means the razor they sent me hasn't been stropped for a few days.

IMHO, it doesn't matter. I have stropped the night before and shaved the next day with no ill effects. One thing I have noticed, and it really doesn't matter is, dust or lint or any kind of stuff can attach itself to your blade overnight, and stropping would clean it off, however, I rinse my blade before I shave so it doesn't matter. You are correct. Lynn strops his razors before he sends them. The blade is truly shave ready and does not need to be stopped prior to your first shave. I know many vendors who do the same...
Another reason I can think of is, If your new, and have 0 stropping experience, You can actually damage the edge with improper stropping. so, if you shave as they recommend, right out of the box, Your going to experience a truly shave ready razor.

Also, Lu, try 25 linen and 50 leather. see how that works for you....

I will try the 25/50 tomorrow. I am still trying to figure out what will work best for me. I am getting better at shaving, have not drawn blood for a few weeks now.

The blade felt very comfortable after the barber hone!

    Thanks

they (honer's)say don't strop because of fear. Most of the honers don't want to person damage the edge by stropping.
Honer's have no idea how you or anyone else strop the blade.
Wrong stropping will damage the blade.
Now What Randy says is correct.
Important is strop before every shave.
Stropping 1 day before will not do as much as good as stropping before every shave will do
    hope this helps.

    Hi All,

I tried as Rich suggested doing only 25/50 on the strop this evening. It seemed to work just as good. I like this procedure better as there is less of a chance of me making a mistake in stropping.

Thanks Rich, I really appreciate it the suggestion. This will be my process going forward.
