Went to google here and checked out some fellows that use this test. Fortunately for me my thumb pad will suffice.

Well I've gotta say reading this gave me instant pucker factor. If it works for you great! But for God's sake don't forget what you're doing and lick.

BTW, anybody out there ever try the HPT? Do you have to flick the edge or just let it drop?

How 'bout we compromise and try the a lip test? Our lips have tons of nerve endings as well.

I might try a lip test since the tpt has never done me much good other either.

In fact, only two tests do we me any good.

1.Will it cut hair off my arm without the blade touching skin, and how much does it "tug"?

    2. Good ole shave test. Unfortunately, there's still a lot of razor/honings that only make it about 1 stroke into this test before I know the answer.

You do know what the inevitable is, now don't you...one day, one of those invisible little people that follow us around and tap our coffee cup when we are wearing a white shirt, trip us on the stairs and place large piles of dog crap under a few leaves in your path is going to kick you in the A** while you're tonguing a scary sharp Dovo...But...hey, if you aren't livin on the edge, etc., etc.

No disrespect intended to the original poster... reading this interesting thread immediately made me think of this scene from Dracula:

Why stop at the tongue? If you're already going the mouth route, why not just use your throat like this guy?

    A little off topic, but....

This MAY actually help me a lot. Due to my work and hobbies I'll loose the "ridges" in the outer parts of my prints from time to time. I'll give it another go and make a point to find a good patch of print on my thumbs.

Ima gonna look like a fool sitting in a chair trying to get the right light to inspect my thumbpads. There's worse things than crazy, right?

I think we have discovered the solution for a hairy tongue.
