DMT hones from D8C to D8EE and coticule
I got a La Verte belgian coticule for christmas, and I like it very much. It is very hard and a slower one. I have several cheap coarse to mid fine hones that I want to replace with a DMT D8C and D8EF. They will be great for both knife and razor sharpening.
The question is, how much do I benefit if I buy a D8EE too? Would it significantly shorten the full sharpening time, or it isn't worth it? (I have a slurry stone for the coti too)
If someone is into knife sharpening too, is the D8EE worth for kitchen knives too, or it doesn't give much improvement to the edge over the EF? I would strop with diamond pastes from 3micron to 0,25 micron after the stones.
After what I have read, it seems like I don't need the D8EE, but you never know I wanted to share my struggle, I thought it would be better to ask someone who already tried this combo.
Thanks very much in advance, any opinions are very much appreciated.

You may like the EE for knives. The EE is 8k and the EF is 1200, so that is a very big difference. I suppose it depends on what else you have for your knives.
For razors, I don't really like the EE.

So after the DMT 1200 only the coti with a bit of slurry, then dilute to water, and finish? I was looking for something in between to make my honing a little more predictable and more consistent. Or it is not so important, if I get used to my coti, I wil be fine?

Get to know your coticule and you should do well
Personally (and just starting out not so long ago)
i set the bevel with a 1k and move directly to step 5 of the Unicot honing method - home of the famous Belgian Coticule Whetstone
That should be some help untill you get the hang of the dilutions for your hone

Well, you could add in a 4kish and an 8kish hone, like the Norton 4k/8k combo or a Naniwa SS 3k or 5k and 8k, or Shapton 4k and 8k's or... or....
It's not that nothing fits in, but that the hone you proposed is not a popular choice. Then again, if you want to take the time and fiddle with the process, you could just use your coticule.
