Never looked that much at this razor before I must admit. Maybe it's doing all this just to get my attention...
OK, thanks for checking. At this point I am going to bow out else there may be to many different recommendations & result in confusion for you.

It does sound like your overhoning or else the temper is gone from that razor and it will not hold an edge.

Hey thanks for your info, the more the better I spose
well, I'm pretty sure there's nothing wrong with the temper, as last time it had a good edge, it kept the edge. I just messed it up experimenting with the coticule a bit, and then decided to learn and put it all back in a structured manor, with a synthetic hone... And then I learned what overhoning was.

Well, as not only you are suggesting overhoning, I suppose there are gradations of overhoning? And first time round, I must have really messed it up, and my backhoning must not have taken it fully away this time, but it's not that bad anymore, and therefor, I'm nog seeing it with the 10x magnification this time. That would be a theory making the results fit together, not?

In that case, i'd better do some more backhoning tomorrow before trying to re-establish that edge...
    Well, I'll sleep over it
    Thanks anyway!

Try to use lower grit stone instead of backhoning.
lest say go head to 5k level and then come back.
lastly i am not sure are you using any tape? if yes take it out and even go to 1k level and then come back.

Well, I'm not into HAD yet, so for now, my set exists of
    1 Wüsthof 3K/8K
    1 Coticule

I'm putting on tape after the first round of honing, as the spine has quite some wear, and I want to prevent even more wear...

So my idea at the moment is (with tape):
-little more backhoning on 3K side
-re-establishing edge starting with 3K and then going to 8K, and make sure I get a good edge off the 8K (with a few test shaves that is) before I use the coticule to put the icing on the cake...

Unfortunatley i have to say take tape off. And go head start normal honing from 3k and move on.9NO Backhoning"
i am not sure what quality coticule you have. is it suitable for finishing job or not.
    this is guess.
3knext coticule with slurry , then your 8k . strop and test the blade.

    Default On the right track

    All right.

Did (with tape, sorry) very light (that will be the emphasis from now on when honing ):

-60 cirkels on 3K both sides
-about 30 x-strokes on both sides
    -pyramid 1/5 1/5 1/5 3/5 5/5 3/5 1/5 1/5 1/5
    - 10 X-strokes on 8K

    strop & test shave.
What a difference to last 2 times. Not quite there yet, shave should have been closer & a lil more comfortable, but it was at least constant this time, and the edge looked the same under the loupe before & after.
So now I'm taking it little step by little step (think I'm going to do regular pyramids) until I got it fully shave ready.

Thanks for time & tips guys! Really appreciated!
