Sorry for the slight highjack, but I remember when I first started participating here thinking how weird guys were who collected stones because they liked looking at them. Now, that's the only reason I buy them.

Thank you gents for your fast inputs/advices. Are the garnets in the coticule bigger than the one in BBW, or is just the density, 25-30 vs 40-50?As for the purple color I like it better than milky white.
    Regards

From what I've read the garnets in the bbw are larger than those in the yellow and there is more density within the yellow than the bbw. It is a pretty purple.

I don't have my computer right now with my personal pictures... stupid move from last Tuesday that I'm hoping FedEx remedies

But here's one from the net of my stone. In this picture, it's 35cm long. Now, it's in two pieces almost equal in length

It's either USPS or Customs, I'm not sure which but I know Customs opened it. It actually worked out well because I have one that I can give my brother when he comes back from Afghanistan

Re: BBW being harder than the yellow coticule layer.

I recently had the misfortune to have to lap 4 combo stones in one go. I found that the BBW side was a lot easier to lap ---- inidcating to me that the BBW is actually softer than the coticule layer.

And yes, when I use BBW to raise a slurry on the coticule, it's purple. Perhaps the intensely coloured BBW is obscuring the whiter coticule layer, but I don't think that's what's happening. There's no dulling of the purple slurry at all.
