Thanked: 993It sounds like your wife needs a hobby too. Does she do anything that would occupy her time, and free up some of yours?
On friday nite's when swmbo and I are putting together weekend plans, I make it a point to say "One thing I'd really like to do this weekend is touch up my rotation"....or something like that. Then she automatically knows that I need some time to myself.
It works for us.
Good luck

Library? Really?
Just tell her you love to hone and you'll hone the kitchen knife tomorrow.

My wife likes to sew.. while I am honing she will sew and everyone is happy.
When I first started though my wife was unable to sew do to a medical issue and would clock watch all the time so I would normally do it after she was a sleep or when she was at her mothers to visit.

Thanked: 235For me, the wife always has to come first. If she is upset with me I will get no pleasure from anything until she is put right again. Always best to keep her happy.

She is actually very good to me and puts up with a lot! She was crocheting the whole time. My shop is in an old coal room in the basement and if I need to get away that is a good place. One of the reasons I hone upstairs in the living room is to be around people and be part of the houshold. Of the different things I do related to razors like sawing hammering etc. honing is one that is relativley clean and I can pick it up easily. I wonder what my sons girlfreind thinks of me. About everytime she sees me I am sharpening something by the door. Maybe I need a hobby that is more spectator freindly.
