Question Which edge do you prefer and why?

    Alright guys,
I have 3 razors whose edges I have sampled under 370X magnification. Without saying anything about how they were honed (so as to not bias your opinions...and to be honest, I only know honing regimen on one of the blades), I am interested in seeing you guys' expert opinion on which edge you prefer and why? So, vote your conscience. Give me the good, bad and ugly of each.

Pictures were taken before shaving so edge deterioration is minimal or non-existent. Also, before you guys ask: yes, all 3 blades felt great on the face.

Sorry to say light effect,x size and fact is we see the bevel not the edge.
it is hard to tell which edge is better or worse?
    if i want to guess
i would say edge one is the sharpest one(at least to my eyes.

I voted edge 2. Has that y/g Escher look to my eye.

    Sham,
True. it's more of a bevel than an edge. I had a real hard time focusing on the true edge, so couldn't take a photo (need a much better microscope for that than the cheapie I've got).

My best edges never look like #1 or #3. So I choose #2.

If you mean with regards to shaving, I don't see how one could make an informed statement about any of the edges based on those photos. If you mean with regards to visual appeal, that's another story.

Did you set up the lighting exactly the same for all three?
Are the blades at the exact same angle (tilt) in relation to the microscope in all three?

Assuming yes, the scratches are much shallower on #2.
As Dylan mentioned, that doesn't necessarily make it the best shaver.

It is really hard to tell from the pictures, but I'll have a go

    1. looks like an edge honed on synthetic stone and finished on a pasted strop.
    2. looks like a J-nat finish
    3. looks like high grit finisher, Escher or similar

Probably I am totally off the mark here, but what the heck.
    A funny little excersise Robert

    Edit:
my preference would be edge number 3

I'm still very new to this.....I don't even own a hone yet, but I voted for number two. It looks like it would be a smoother shaver because of it's smooth appearance.

I voted 2 because it reminds me of most of my edges. Really looks like a Jnat edge to me.. But if they all shave great , as you say, then the bevel cosmetics are kinda secondary eh ?
