Thanked: 1936I've got one of those Fiskar axes and I believe you Bruno. Excellent axes for the price and also for a mass produced one at that. You sure can make the chips fly with them that is for sure.
I'm sure that Mr. Carter is just laughing his tail off at how he stirred up all the honers here...I know that I would. For me, I'll just stick with my Shapton GS's and Escher's and enjoy a nice and comfortable shave every time.Southeastern Oklahoma/Northeastern Texas helper. Please don't hesitate to contact me.
Thank you and God Bless, Scott

All this talk about people shaving with knives and axes, i thought (for a laugh) i would give it a go myself... So i honed up one of my kitchen knives, stropped and shaved.. Not a bad shave either.. i little awkward but not bad! lol - Video attached

Has anyone actually tried his edge? Most of you folks are true mockery masters.
"He who does things other way than ours, is worth nothing but laughter and pity." You should add that motto right below the logo. And consider changing the name to Straight Razor Hate. For real.

With all that has already been said here, I imagine that he'd gladly hone a few razors for comparisons, even if he officially doesn't offer the service. Any man who believes he's good at what he's doing would do so. But there will always be an excuse...
Best defend by attacking, eh? Somehow that kind trolling is fine with you?:
Now, that's a good piece of constructive criticism, and surely a valuable addition....

Thanked: 13245Matt:
Most everyone here that is worth his weight in hones has tried just about every system and stroke you could possibly imagine , we know from years of experience, that a finish stroke using a back hone motion on a 6k hone is not nearly what most any accomplished or even semi-accomplished honer will settle for, or anywhere near as smooth as most straight razor shavers will settle for ...
Honing a straight razor as though it is a knife, resulted in, by his own words "An inferior shave"...
There is no "New" or interesting system or technique being presented in this Vid it is just an tried and proved inferior way of honing straight razors...
Basically most everyone honing razors can beat that edge and never pick up more than a Barber's Hone... Do you understand now???? That it is the system that is lacking here, not the honer...

Over 24 hours ago, I posted a Video Response on youtube to Mr. Carter. He has not approved it for display on his video yet. In the video, I offer to send him a german straight razor much like the one that he uses, with my shave ready edge on it. After he tries it, I ask him to send it back to me with his edge on it so that I can experience it.
Like I said, nothing yet. Hopefully he posts it. Until then, you can find it, just search Response to Carter Cutlery Razor Sharpening
