My blade choice was a Fox Cutlery Co. 63, it had a minor nick near the toe so it needed to be honed anyways. I honed until I could TNT the blade with no resistance. This took roughly 75 passes doing X style on a 1k King. The rest of my methods are as follows:

20 medium pressure X strokes
20 light pressure X strokes
5 no pressure X strokes
50 laps on linen
80 laps on leather

The shave baffled me. After I shaved my left cheek, my first thought was " I did this?! -I- honed this blade?!" The shave was surprisingly smooth. Yes, my skin feels different ... But I wouldn't call this irritated. It would be more accurate to say it is lacking something. I could easily shave this way without complaints.

Over all, never thought it would end so pleasantly. I honestly expected a rougher sensation. Something along the lines of burning skin and redness, but no such signs. My endless respect and thanks to you all for conducting this experiment. I have a whole new appreciation for the 1k and bevel setting. Once again, Wow!

Many thanks,

Ill bet that was a glorious feeling, Glad it worked out for you!
