Anyway, What they all said. In a nutshell, Shaving off DMT's is harsh, period. You can try to smooth out your finished product on some chromium oxide. In many cases, that'll take the bite out of the blade. I also have a full set of the DMT plates. I don't use the DMT F, or DMT E anymore, just DMT C, and DMT XX. The c for slurry building, (it's well worn) and the XX for lapping. Actually, I started using the Atoma 1200 for slurry building. I like it.
It's the diamonds that leave a harsh finish on the blade. Same thing can happen with the use of diamond pastes.
Any natural or synthetic hone will help. The Nortons are a good choice.
Happy Honing....We have assumed control !

Thanked: 247I agree. Though I will still use the DMTs for repair.
I have switched to norton 4/8 and all the planets aligned nicely. I'm surprised Ti say the least.
I have put away the balsa CrOx, FeOx, and will use the DMT F, XF, and XXF for my knives...they are great for that arena.
Thanks for all the support, gents.
