OK got my "Maruichi" brand Nakayama Suita out .. the back is flat! i dont HAVE to lose the stamps!
ok, so flatted it for a bit looked ok, but the kamisori felt a bit odd so i 'pencilled' the Nakayama .. flatted it
major dip in the middle
pencilled it again, flatted it again
teatime i think

im still undecided about the rounded-frontend issue
whatever, i dont think ive ruined this piece, but im waiting on some strops to arrive
SO so [so] far this project has accomplished several goals:
ive got a working technique for lapping artificials with the new iWood diamond plate .. at
#300 its ok
but on Jnats i feel i want to go finer
i recently acquired a mint Fallkniven DC521, which has a finer and quite large
enough diamond side .. and the ceramic side works well as a bevel-setter
ive played with various type honing strokes, theres a few of those about + i have my own + some togishi tricks
but most importantly i got the unstamped side of my beautiful Nakayama lapped and put a old Henkotsu to it
that was the endgame
neither of em minded a bitLast edited by etorix; 02-27-2013 at 06:39 AM.

right then .. traded a bit of fingerstone-material for 2 strops, one is a Roma no 46, says FINISH + SHELL HORSEHIDE on one side
the other side seems shiny, is it used?
the other one is a smaller German Diamond Edge No 4 which had been treated with a Thiers compound, he says it was too
coarse, to remove it
treating em both to Effax, which smells delightful

followed by glycerine, following advice on here:

its 55mm wide .. wonder why its a No46
